ACCESSIBILITY

Historic Cherry Hill is committed to providing an enjoyable experience for all visitors and we are constantly working to improve accessibility at our site. Please reach out to us to help plan your visit and for any specific questions we can answer: 518-434-4791

Please note:

The usual tour route takes visitors up and down two staircases in the house, these historic stairways have railings for your safety.

Modern chairs are available in rooms on the tour for guest comfort.

There is a gravel and stone path up a slight incline to the main entrance which brings you into the basement level.

The bathroom is located on the first/main floor of the house, it can be accessed up the staircase from the basement or through the back porch from the garden.

Artifacts and furniture may make some paths through the house narrow and difficult to navigate with mobility devices or strollers. Check in with your guide at the start of the tour or contact the museum in advance (518-434-4791) and we can make adjustments to the route.

We feature hands-on items in the tour and scavenger hunts that help keep younger visitors engaged.

Listening devices are available at no charge, please inquire at the front desk when you arrive.

VISITING WITH CHILDREN

Visitors of all ages are welcome to Historic Cherry Hill!

Our docents are trained to make guided tours engaging for all visitors.

We ask that any children under the age of 16 be accompanied by an adult. There are many historic items and furnishings in the house that cannot be touched, we ask guardians to help our docents and staff keep your young ones and our collections safe during house tours. Touchable objects are featured in each room and scavenger hunts for different ages are available for children and adults to enjoy!

Check out the gardens during your visit! This is a great space to run around and enjoy nature. Picnic tables are available.

Currently there is a StoryWalk on view featuring a storybook to take visitors through the gardens. See our Events for upcoming programming.

2026 Public Tour

A Revolutionary Tour of Cherry Hill

Experience a Merchant’s life following the end of the Revolution in America. This summer, we are highlighting the luxuries of the Philip and Maria Van Rensselaer Collection. Some items are more than 250 years old, and many represent the work Mr Van Rensselaer conducted during his time as a Correspondence Committee of Albany member, as well as the Chamber of Commerce Commissioner. Both positions bolstered the Van Rensselaer’s family reputation and wealth, for a short time.
