Local artists will be invited to create “pumpkin art”—carving or other media-on-pumpkin—taking inspiration from Cherry Hill and the murder story. While pumpkins last!

An Exhibition of original works by Black artists responding to the story of James Knapp.

Join us at the 26th Annual Albany History Fair, and explore Black life in Gilded Age Albany through the lens of James Knapp, one of Cherry Hill’s Black residents, and through the many stories interpreted by Albany’s cultural organizations. There will be special tours, period music, scholars’ talks, exhibits by heritage and community partners, and the opening of The World of James Knapp, an art show featuring original works by local Black artists responding to James Knapp’s story.

This talk and musical program will feature music from William James Knapp's extensive personal collection of sheet music he acquired between 1865 to 1885, which includes popular, classical, and parlor music from the Gilded Age.
